I started on Shepherd Healthcare’s weight loss program in February of 2013 and at that time I weighed 326 pounds and was a borderline diabetic. On December 16, 2013 I weigh 219 pounds and I have officially lost 107 pounds, going from a 44 inch waist down to a 36 inch waist. I still have 25 pounds to lose to get to my original weight loss goal and I should accomplish that in the first 3 months of the New Year. My goal when accomplished will be 132 pounds lost and a 34 inch waist, never to see the 200’s again! I am a 55 year woman who has done up and down dieting my whole life. I started the Shepherd Healthcare weight loss program with Dr. Shepherd on Feb. 21, 2013 weighing in at 225 pounds, wearing a tight size 18. On Oct.15, 2013 I reached my goal weight of 160 pounds and am now wearing a size 8. I lost 65 lbs in 8 months and I feel great! Before, I had trouble sleeping but now I can sleep comfortably. I also was borderline diabetic and now my sugars are normal. Following Dr. Shepherd’s recommended low carb diet is not a diet for us anymore - this is the way we eat. We know what going back to the old way we ate will do, so now we are staying with a Low Carb lifestyle and loving our new healthy bodies. Dr. Shepherd is the first doctor who ever straight up asked me if I wanted to lose weight. Of course I wanted to lose weight, but I just knew I couldn't. Dr. Shepherd did not respond to that, he just said "I know you can do it." I was intrigued so I decided I would try to follow his low carb diet. I was surprised at how easy it had been, and how great I felt! However, very early on I hit a plateau that I was not happy about. I had to figure out why and I realized I was not being careful with my calories so made the necessary adjustments. I also started walking on a treadmill and I could not believe how much energy working out gave me!! Losing weight is no secret - eat healthy, exercise, and don’t give up. Don't do the diet and weight loss program for anyone but yourself! I now love how I look and feel even though I have about 25 more lbs to lose.
